General Terms and Conditions – School Regulations
Article 1 – Surf Lesson Registration and Booking
A registration form may be completed by the participant, or by a parent or legal guardian for minors.
By registering with Alaia Surf Club, participants (or their parents/legal guardians if they are minors) acknowledge and accept the risks associated with surfing under normal practice conditions.
Adult participants, and the legal guardians of minor participants, certify that they have sufficient swimming ability and that there are no medical contraindications preventing them from participating in surfing activities.
Article 2 – Cancellation of Surf Lessons
In the event of unsuitable weather or sea conditions (heavy swell, thunderstorms, storms, red flag, etc.), any lesson that cannot be conducted will, in agreement with the participants, be:
- Rescheduled to a later date;
- Replaced with alternative activities (Bodyboarding, Bodysurfing, theoretical instruction, etc.);
- Refunded if neither of the above solutions is possible.
Any booked lesson that is not cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance will be charged in full.
Article 3 – School Responsibility
Participants are under the responsibility of Alaia Surf Club and its instructors from the scheduled lesson start time only, and not before.
They remain under the instructor's supervision until all equipment has been returned and stored at the end of the lesson.
The school's liability towards its participants applies only during these periods.
Participants are strongly advised not to leave valuables (cash, watches, mobile phones, jewellery, etc.) in the school's beach hut.
Alaia Surf Club accepts no responsibility for the loss or theft of personal belongings left on its premises.
Article 4 – Instruction
Theoretical and practical lessons are provided by qualified instructors holding the appropriate French State Diploma (Brevet d'État), Professional Certificate specialising in Surfing (Brevet Professionnel "Surf des Vagues"), or by trainee instructors under supervision.
Instruction follows the standards recommended by the French Surfing Federation (Fédération Française de Surf).
Alaia Surf Club holds the official French Surf School (École Française de Surf) certification, guaranteeing a recognised quality standard for all participants.
All instructors maintain up-to-date annual first aid certification.
Article 5 – Insurance
All participants registered with Alaia Surf Club are covered by the school's Public Liability Insurance. The terms and conditions of this cover are detailed in the Allianz Insurance policy, which is available for consultation by parents or legal guardians.
Participants (or their legal representatives) may decline the Individual Accident and Assistance Insurance.
However, Alaia Surf Club strongly recommends that participants take out personal accident insurance with the insurer of their choice, providing enhanced coverage for bodily injury resulting from sporting activities beyond that included in the school's insurance policy.
The school's insurance applies only during scheduled lesson times.
For individuals who regularly surf independently, Alaia Surf Club strongly recommends purchasing a surfing licence through a club affiliated with the French Surfing Federation (FFS).
Article 6 – School Commitment
Alaia Surf Club is committed to maintaining the quality standards required of a certified French Surf School, particularly in terms of welcome, instruction, supervision and safety.
Suitable equipment (surf school surfboards and wetsuits) is provided to participants during lesson hours.
Article 7 – Image Rights
Photographs and videos may be taken during lessons and may include your image.
Unless you expressly object, Alaia Surf Club may use these images for communication and promotional purposes (brochures, website, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) without any entitlement to compensation.
Article 8 – Equipment Rental
Alaia Surf Club rents surfing equipment including surfboards, bodyboards and wetsuits.
Rental prices are clearly displayed at the school.
A security deposit (identity document, cash, or another valuable item) is required for the duration of the rental.
If rented equipment is damaged, compensation will be charged in proportion to the damage caused.
Alaia Surf Club reserves the right to refuse equipment rental if sea conditions are considered unsafe or unsuitable (large surf, inappropriate tide, etc.).

Alaia Surf Club reserves the right to provide participants with additional documents relating to the operation of the school, including information on the different services offered, lesson durations, weekly schedules, prices and any other relevant details..
